The Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) is the unique identifier for each Service Delivery Point on the network. It applies to each service delivery point where there is a Connection Agreement between the Distribution System Operator (Networks) and a customer or generator. In most cases, this is the point of connection to the network.

It defines the point at which metering is installed that can accurately record consumption. In the case of unmetered supplies, it defines the point on the network where accurate estimates of the consumption can be provided for settlement.

Supplier registrations take place using the MPRN and at any time there will be only one supplier for each MPRN. The MPRN is printed on all Electricity Bills.

The MPRN is an 11 digit number comprised of:

First 2 digits = System Operator (10 for DSO - Distribution System Operator)
Next 8 digits = Sequentially generated
Last 1 digit = Check digit (using the Verhoeff algorithm)

An example of what it will look like is: 10003729968.
